Arrival in the primate capital of the world – Kibale
Your journey begins with a warm welcome in Entebbe or Kampala, followed by a scenic drive westward to Kibale Forest National Park. Along the way, enjoy beautiful views of tea plantations, traditional homesteads, and the lush green landscapes of Uganda’s countryside.
Kibale is home to 13 species of primates, including the chimpanzees, red colobus monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and more. This forest is considered the best place in East Africa for chimpanzee tracking.

Guided nature walk in Bigodi Swamp
After an early breakfast, head to the Kanyanchu Visitor Center for a briefing by UWA rangers. Then set off on your chimpanzee tracking adventure through the dense Kibale Forest. These intelligent and expressive primates are fascinating to observe as they swing from tree to tree, feed, and interact in their natural habitat.
The tracking usually lasts 2-5 hours depending on the movement of the chimps. You’ll also spot other wildlife such as forest birds, butterflies, and other monkey species.
In the afternoon, enjoy a guided nature walk in the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-based eco-tourism project rich in biodiversity, especially birdlife like the Great Blue Turaco, and primates.

Arrive at the gorilla sanctuary of Bwindi
After breakfast, depart Kibale and journey southwards towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. The drive offers stunning views of the Rift Valley, Lake Bunyonyi, banana plantations, and dramatic terraced hills of southwestern Uganda.
Arrive in the evening and relax at your lodge as you prepare for the highlight of your safari – gorilla trekking.

Scenic nature hike through the ancient forest
Today is the ultimate highlight of your safari. After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. With your assigned ranger guide, hike into the dense, mist-covered Bwindi forest in search of a habituated gorilla family.
The trek can take anywhere between 2 to 6 hours depending on the gorillas’ movement. Once you find them, you’ll spend an unforgettable one hour in their presence, observing their behavior, social interactions, and feeding habits.
After the trek, return to your lodge to rest and reflect on this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Stopover at the equator for photos
After breakfast, begin your return journey to Kampala or Entebbe, passing through beautiful rural towns and rolling hills. Enjoy a stop at the Equator Line for souvenir shopping and photos.
Upon arrival, transfer to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight, or to your hotel if you’re staying longer.
